Irish Therapy Dogs is a registered voluntary charity whose approved volunteers and their dogs visit the residents of an assigned Care Centre once per week for approximately one hour to bring them the therapeutic benefits of canine companionship.

Approved and registered Volunteer Visiting Teams (Owners and their Dogs) devote one hour each week visiting their assigned Care Centres

Reading for Fun Programme

The aim of Irish Therapy Dogs’ Reading for Fun programme is to improve the literacy and communication skills of children.

Happy Christmas from Harley and all at Irish Therapy Dogs

The highlight of Irish Therapy Dog Harley’s week is his weekly visit. The residents just light up when they see him! Happy Christmas Harley!   Nollaig Shona Dhaoibh!   A Very Happy Christmas to our dedicated Volunteers, Care Centre Residents and the Staff, School Pupils, Teachers, Sponsors and all who have supported Irish Therapy Dogs


Irish Therapy Dog Belle is very sociable and loves visiting her friends in the care home every week where her presence brings joy and smiles to everyone. Happy Christmas Belle!

Our Mission Statement

Irish Therapy Dogs’ Mission is to provide physical, therapeutic and educational benefit to people, young and old, fit and frail, alert and impaired, in Hospitals, Nursing Homes, Day Care Centres, Schools and other places where people may be restricted from having pets and where the presence of dogs and their owners, will add comfort and support.
